The President of the Catalan Basque Pelota Federation (FCP), Agustí Brugués, the advisor to the Basque Pelota World Championships Barcelona 2018, Pere Alcober, and the Basque pelota player from the Spanish national team, Emiliano Skufca, accompanied the Vice President of the Argentine Basque Pelota Confederation (CAP), Adrián Rodríguez, during a technical visit to the Vall d’Hebron and Bac de Roda frontons. These facilities, set to host the World Championships and refurbished for the occasion, impressed the Argentine delegate, who described them as “impeccable”.
The group also visited the official hotels of the World Championships where the delegations will stay for a week, Hotel Alimara and Residencia Ágora. Rodríguez appreciated the proximity of the hotels to the facilities, as the delegations will be able to walk to the frontons because they are located only a few metres away.
The visit concluded with a fraternal lunch at a Basque pelota restaurant such as Taktika Berri. During the course of the meal, Rodríguez thanked the FCP on behalf of the CAP for its warm welcome and hospitality. The Vice President of the Argentine Basque Pelota Confederation claimed he was very impressed by the visit and noted: “After a long day together with Agustín, Emiliano and Pere, I am leaving Barcelona with the feeling of a prepared and excited Catalan Federation that realises the importance of organising such an absolute World Championship. It will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the best events ever staged.”
