The official World Cup schedule has been announced. The Spanish and Argentine national teams are set to open the competition in a leather paddle match on 14 October at the recently remodelled Vall d’Hebron frontons. This will be followed by the opening ceremony, before returning to the competition with some jai alai action.

The first big unknown of the Basque Pelota World Championships Barcelona 2018 was revealed a few days ago when the official competition calendar was released, the roadmap that will lead the teams to the world title. A world-class leather paddle match involving Spain-Argentina will inaugurate the event on 14 October and convert Barcelona into the world capital of the sport until 20 October.

Over a seven-day period, the 14 official competitions of the four speciality groups in these World Championships will be staged at the remodelled frontons of Vall d’Hebron (qualifying phase, semi-finals and finals) and Bac de Roda (qualifying phase): hand, bat-paddle, jai alai and frontenis. A total of more than 160 matches for spectators to enjoy featuring the world’s best pelota players.
